A deportation is where a non-US citizen can be placed in Removal Proceedings, a legal term referred to the legal process of removing or deporting the individual from the United States due to various reasons such as overstaying a visa, criminal convictions, violations, and other legal issues. Immigration Judges  hear removal cases and make the ultimate decision whether to allow the individual to remain in the United States legally or to remove the individual by order of deportation. 

A deportation can be very stressful situation for the individual in removal proceedings, also known as Respondent, and his or her family. The individual may not know where to live if he were deported to his country of birth. He or she may have been living in the United States almost his or her whole life.
